Sebastien,
Jr.
(Robbie)
is
a
resident
of
Opelousas,
La.
where
he
received
his
elementary
education
at
AIC/Opelousas
Catholic
and
went
on
to
graduate
in
1979
from
The
St.
Paul’s
School
in
Covington,
La.
His
post
studies
continued
at
USL,
The
Gemological
Institute
of
America
and
T.H.
Harris.
He
is
the
eldest
son
of
Carolyn
Mayer
Bertrand
and
Dr.
Charles
Caffery
Bertrand
and
the
late
Joseph
R.
“Bob”
Sebastien,
Sr.
Being
extremely
civil
minded,
he
became
the
youngest
person
to
join
The
Opelousas
Art
League
where
he
served
as
an
Executive
Board
Member
and
became
President
shortly
thereafter.
By
appointment
from
former
Mayor
John
Joseph,
he
became
a
founding
member
of
the
Board
of
Directors
of
The
Opelousas
Museum
and
Interpretive
Center.
The
La.
Yambilee
Association
voted
him
into
their
Board
of
Directors
in
1996
where
he
has
also
served
on
the
Executive
Board
from
2006
to
2010
in
capacities
from
secretary
to
vice-‐president.
He
served
as
President
of
the
association
for
two
years
from
2004-‐2006
and
again
in
2008-‐2009.
He
has
twice
held
a
position
with
on
the
Board
of
Directors
of
the
Opelousas-‐St.
Landry
Chamber
of
Commerce
where
he
is
currently
the
Chairman
for
Area
Development.
He
has
a
strong
interest
in
the
downtown
revitalization
of
Opelousas
and
also
holds
a
seat
on
the
Board
of
Directors
of
The
Opelousas
Main
Street
District
Program
through
the
Louisiana
Office
of
Cultural
Development
via
the
Department
of
Culture,
Recreation
and
Tourism.
In
the
Mardi
Gras
season
of
1999,
Mr.
Sebastien
served
as
Duke
to
King
Orme,
Dr.
Pete
Pinac
and
in
2009
became
the
annual
Captain
to
the
Cotillion
of
Bal
Masque’
hosted
by
the
Opelousas
Garden
Club.
He
also
manages,
books
and
schedules
events
for
Toby’s
Little
Lodge
and
Reception
Hall.
Mr.
Sebastien
is
owner
of
Sebastien-‐Dupre
Fine
Jewelery,
Inc.
located
in
the
Opelousas
Historic
District
where
he
plays
the
roll
of
jeweler
and
designer
as
well
as
company
sales.
His
business
has
been
a
huge
supporter
of
civic
minded
groups
and
serves
in
capacity
to
help
fundraising
for
such
clubs
as
the
Opelousas
Little
Theatre,
The
Boys
and
Girls
Club,
St.
Landry-‐Evangeline
United
Way
and
the
Washington
Garden
Club.
His
likes
and
hobbies
are
linked
to
anything
that
is
art
or
architecturally
related.
As
an
artist
he
has
painted
in
multi
mediums
from
landscapes
to
portraiture,
as
well
as
china
painting
and
glass
fusing.
His
designs
have
been
chosen
twice
to
serve
as
La.
Yambilee
Festival
posters
as
well
as
artist
to
other
organizations.
Mr.
Sebastien
is
pleased
to
serve
as
the
2011
Louisiana
Yambilee
King
LXVI.
